About Chillar

A place to put anything you need to remember.

Your brain isn't a to-do list. Chillar is the place you offload everything — money, tasks, reminders, ideas, notes — without stopping to think about where it goes. Write one line. Chillar figures out the rest.

Why I built this

Every app wants you to decide upfront: is this a note? A task? An expense? Pick a category. Open a menu. Fill a form. Most of the time you just want to get it out of your head and move on.

Chillar has no categories, no menus, no spell check. You write what you want, however you want. It quietly puts things in the right bucket and stays out of your way.

Philosophy

Every character should delight you
Writing in Chillar should feel good. Fast, frictionless, satisfying. If it ever feels like work, something's wrong.
You decide what to write
No dictionaries, no autocorrect, no forced formats. Chillar adapts to how you think, not the other way around.
Your data, your device
Everything lives locally on your phone. No accounts, no sync, no servers. We can't see your data because we never touch it.
No AI. No network requests.
A local Subject-Object-Verb parser reads what you write and figures out what you mean — entirely on your device. Runs in microseconds, works offline.

While every app races to add AI — tokens, models, network calls, servers — Chillar goes the other way. Subject. Object. Verb. The natural order of how Indians speak and think.

chaos is why we shine — chillar

Thank you for using Chillar. Every person who opens this app and writes one line is the reason it exists. If something's broken or missing, tell me — hello@chillar.com.

How the parser works

1. Meta — tags, person, status
Strips #tags, @name, and flags before anything else. Start with - to force a task. Add ! to mark urgent. kharcha groceries #home @priya ! → money, tagged home, person priya, urgent
2. Anchor — phonetic word matching
The first word is stemmed — vowels stripped, doubles collapsed — and looked up in the word map. Works across spellings and languages. kharcha → khrch → money
3. Math — arithmetic, rates, GST, percentages
Finds and evaluates numbers anywhere in your entry. grocery 2kg @ 45 → 90   dinner 850 +18% → 1003   petrol 500 +tax → 590
4. Scheduler — time and day detection
Detects times, days, and repeat patterns anywhere in your entry. dentist tomorrow 3pm → reminder, resolved date   standup every monday 9am → weekly repeat
5. Split — shared bills
Reads name + amount pairs and calculates each person's share. udhar ravi 300 suresh 200 → total 500, 2 participants
6. Budget — spending limits
Tracks spending against a set limit for a category or period. grocery budget 5000 → budget entry for groceries

Word Map

The first word of your entry is matched against these. Chillar speaks your language — spellings, transliterations, and common variants all work.
